Payment is due on either the last working day of the week or by Friday of that week. Payments can be made in cash or bank transfer. The amount is agreed in writing at the bottom of the agreement between client and Paws for Thought and will be the figure charged. A weekly invoice system will be put in place in the near future and will be sent out every Friday. Late payments may result in extra charges or cancellation of service.
The Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act 1988 amended 1998, 2002, and 2013 protect companies against late payment. We reserve the right to impose a late payment fee of £2 if the payment is more than 3 days overdue. Then 8% will be charged on a daily basis until full payment is received to a maximum of 30 days. After 30 days, late payment compensation may be added at £40 and proceedings may begin against the client.
Clients must ensure that their requirements for the following week are ideally sent to my Paws for Thought Facebook page by messenger, you can also book by email or text message if using an Apple phone and all bookings should be made no later than 6pm on a Sunday evening. If a permanent arrangement of days is in place then please disregard this unless your requirements change.
Short notice bookings
Whilst every effort is made to accommodate all customers and their needs, if less than 48hrs notice at time of booking, there may be an administration fee of £7.50. This may also be added at short notice schedule changes made by client.
You may cancel your booked slot providing you give a minimum of 48hrs notice; however, every effort is made for flexibility. If cancellation is made within the 48hrs of the walk commencing, a 50% rate could be charged. If the cancellation is due to circumstances beyond the owner’s control, a charge will be made at Paws for Thoughts discretion.
Termination of service
If either party wishes to terminate services, then a seven day written notice to cancel must be given. No reason is necessary to terminate the agreement. If you do not require the service for that week a cost of 50% of that weeks walks will be due. This will be based on an average of your previous 4 weeks.
Health-vaccinations and parasites
Owner is responsible and will ensure that their dog is up-to-date with their vaccinations, flea and tick treatments, also regularly wormed. No claim can be made against Paws for Thought for unnoticed ticks, nor can Paws for Thought attempt to remove them. Any condition or illness that affects ability to exercise or causes an animal to become contagious must be reported immediately. If Paws for Thought deem your pet unfit to walk, but were not informed, full charge will be made. If your animal has just been neutered or operated on, it is Paws for Thought’s policy to reduce exercise until stitches are removed and a gradual reintroduction to a normal walk will commence, however visits will not be wasted and less strenuous mentally stimulating games will be offered instead.
Behaviour of dog whilst in our care
Owner is to make full disclosure of any quality or characteristic problems which might make your dog not suitable for walking; including behavioural or health problems, antisocial behaviour; including aggression, incontinence and excessive loud barking or whining. Failure on the part of the owner to disclose any matter which might render owner’s dog unsuitable for walking will be deemed a material omission amounting to a fundamental breach of our agreement.
We make every effort to contact the owner in the event of an emergency. We recommend owners provide us with a contact number of a trusted third party should we be unable to make contact. However, we reserve the right to make decisions regarding your dog’s health provided it is at all times acting in the best interests of the dog and on the advice of a veterinary surgeon. Owner is responsible for payment of any veterinary fees incurred by Paws for Thought. Paws for Thought are not held accountable for vet fees or third party claims whilst your dog is in our care.
Insurance and liability
A copy of Paws for Thought’s Insurance policy and certificate is available on request at any time and a copy of the policy is attached to these terms and conditions. Paws for Thought are not liable for damage caused by your pet to other items, pets or people. Full disclosure of pet characteristics etc is expected at time of consultation. Failure to disclose specifics that result in injury to another party or animal may result in further costs being brought against you.
We are fully insured to walk up to six dogs at a time. In this time your dog will be walked with other like minded, friendly dogs.
Any extra items deemed necessary by Paws For Thought to keep your pet safe i.e. broken collar etc will be purchased with costs being passed on to the client. This does not include poo bags or treats whilst walking with your dog for the day. There may be charge for extra time needed by Paws for Thought.

Flexibility is required
Please allow for all weather conditions for your dogs, towels are to be provided by owners and at hand when returning dogs home. The safety of your pet and our walker are our first priority. If it is unsafe to walk your dog i.e. extreme weather conditions etc, the booked session will either be moved to an alternative date and time or no charge will be made.
